Editing 1

This week, Janelle began editing the scenes we filmed last week together. Carl-Daniel will be the primary editor because he has the most experience; however, Janelle also helped edit one particular scene to draw more attention to the focus shift within the scene and add realistic sound to it as Janelle had access to a more detailed editing software. The scene was only about 10 seconds long, but it took Janelle a good 2-3 hours to finish getting the sound effects we wanted using a sound-designing software and making the focus shift look more noticeable and seamless. Carl-Daniel also spent a few hours this week piecing together the other shots we took to make them coherent and added transitions to them. We are mostly just using straight cuts in this part of the sequence to speed up the pace and build anticipation for what's happening; however, we also realized while editing that we wanted to film an additional scene with a close-up of a flashlight (making it look like a surgical lig...

filming process

During filming throughout the past 2 weeks, my team definitely faced a lot of challenges, and we had to come up with many solutions and compromises. In the beginning, we went to the Zen room of our school to film a hospital scene and we weren't able to get the section of the room we were planning on so we had to compromise with a different section and use the materials available in the room to use as hospital equipment" with yoga mats and sheets and a computer stand as a table for all the doctor's tools. When filming our scene for the first time, we encountered many issues such as gloves and masks breaking. In addition, we had trouble with lighting, having to find different ways to get the lighting we planned on to capture the mood and tone of the scene that we intended. We had to prop one of our teammate's phones on a wall and use other phone flashlights to get better lighting and it ended up not working well. And while trying to move to see what we were fil...

Challenges in film

Challenges in the filming process of our opening scene include setting up the lighting we want to capture the mood and tone of the movie. Finding places to film is difficult as we don't really have access to a commercial hospital bed and hospital scenery we are going to have to improvise for a lot of the props and mis en scene needed in our opening film. everyone is pulling their own weight in making sure their roles are filled in editing, acting, and filming. our group is able to effectively communicate and set up how we are going to be able to make each shot work and make everything happen with the limited tools we have. We have faced challenges in the filming process however we are able to take whatever means necessary to make an entertaining and effective opening film. Overcoming challenges isn't new to everyone on our team and with effective planning, communicating, and execution we will be able to get our job done.
